The virtual HERItage conference that was held from 15 – 18 June brought together not only prominent researchers but also representatives of the European Commission, political officials, regional stakeholders, local authorities, and various bodies involved in the activities of the European Capital of Culture 2020, as well as interested citizens.
The conference was organized by the University of Rijeka within the Croatian presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2020, and was funded through the largest programme for research and innovation of the European Union, Horizon 2020.
After a successful conference and positive feedback, we present the outcome of the conference – Rijeka Communiqué.
We believe that this document fully reflects the conclusions of the panel sessions. The document highlights the most important inputs for the new European Union Framework Program for research and Innovation, Horizon Europe, on topics important for cultural heritage.
